Frequently Asked Questions

Who is PrEP for? +
PrEP (pre‑exposure prophylaxis) is for people who are HIV‑negative and at ongoing risk for HIV exposure. We assess your individual risk, discuss options, and provide follow‑up testing and adherence support.
How soon should I start PEP? +
PEP (post‑exposure prophylaxis) should be started as soon as possible after a potential exposure — ideally within 24 hours and no later than 72 hours. Call us promptly for guidance.
Do I need a referral? +
A referral is helpful when required by your insurance plan, but many patients can call us directly to schedule. We’ll let you know if your plan requires a referral.
What should I bring to my first appointment? +
Please bring a photo ID, insurance card, a current medication list, relevant records (e.g., recent labs, imaging), and your referral if required.
Do you offer same‑day appointments? +
We do our best to accommodate urgent needs such as possible HIV exposure or rapidly progressing infections. Call us to check same‑day availability.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
